On June 6, 2016, Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc. proudly sponsored 15-LOVE’s Annual Fore Love and Money golf and tennis event to support the programs of 15-LOVE, with special emphasis on the inner cities of Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and Rensselaer. 15-LOVE’s mission is to reach out in a loving, caring way to youth of the Capital Region, especially those in the inner cities, using tennis as the medium. The themes that weave through 15-LOVE programs include education, health, values, relationships, sportsmanship, family, and community.
“I like helping an organization that helps young people who may not have many opportunities to develop themselves and their potential,” Tommy Selfridge, President of Albany Valve & Fitting Co., Inc. said. “15-LOVE uses tennis as a vehicle to help teach work ethic, responsibility, and competition. To paraphrase the late Arthur Ashe, who was instrumental in helping to found the program, 15-LOVE uses tennis to teach the game of life.”
100 golfers and 28 tennis players enjoyed beautiful sunshine and camaraderie on the course and courts. In addition, 30 people attended the dinner, which included a silent auction. A photo of the foursome that Swagelok was in appeared in the SEEN Gallery on the Times Union website.
“I am so pleased that we raised in the ballpark of $90,000,” Amber Marino, 15-LOVE’s Executive Director said. “This event raises nearly a quarter of our budget. This money will touch 4,000 kids in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and Rensselaer who will benefit from 15-LOVE’s programs that are all education- and life skills-based.”
“It’s heartwarming to help young people,” Selfridge said. “Their future is ahead of them. Organizations like 15-LOVE help them reach their potential.”
